熱敏電阻材料負溫度係數(NTC) 應用簡介

熱敏電阻(ThermistorThermal Resistor之縮寫)是一種高溫度係數的電阻體就其電阻係數之大小而言,乃屬於半導體;而依其電阻值隨溫度變化的情形,主可將其分為負溫度係數(NTC, Negative Temperature Coefficient)熱敏電阻及負溫度係數(PTC, Positive Temperature Coefficient)熱敏電阻兩種。本文僅將透過負溫度係數熱敏電阻之電阻溫度特性、電流-電壓特性及電流-時間特性來介紹其應用。

電阻-溫度特性:

電阻-溫度特性:NTC的電阻值可以隨溫度的上升而下降,由於其溫度係數非常大,所以可以檢知微小的溫度變化,因此被廣泛應用在溫度的量 測、控制與補償。

電流-電壓特性:電流-電壓特性:當通入的電流小,幾乎不使元件本身發熱時,電阻值是一定值。當電流增加,NTC熱敏電阻產生的焦耳熱使元件本身的溫度上昇 (self-heating),並與環境進行熱交換。此電流-電壓特性的典型應用為異;如前所述,NTC熱敏電阻通以電流後產生焦耳熱而昇溫,其熱量傳導至週圍介質,平衡溫度將隨介質種類而不同。利用此現象可檢知NTC熱敏電阻在液體中或空氣中,以適時啟動警示燈。

電流-時間特性:

電流-時間特性:NTC熱敏電阻的另一個重要參數是時間,亦即使NTC熱敏電阻從某一電阻值改變到另一電阻值所需的時間。當開始加電壓於NTC熱敏電阻時是定電阻、定電流的狀態,而在自熱區域(self-heating)則電阻下降、電流增加。而其改變速率則和加於NTC熱敏電阻上的功率和元件本身的Thermal Mass、形狀結構及環境狀況等因素有關。此一電流-時間特性可用於抑制突波電流,又不至於對電路的總電流造成太大的影響。因此被廣泛應用於OA機器的交換式電源供應器中,以抑制電源開啟時,引發的突波電流,如此可以防止熔絲的熔斷與保護電子線路及其他電子元件,以提高OA機器的可靠度。

隨著以微電腦為主體的微電子快速普及,及顯示器被大量應用,並隨著科技的發展、製程技術的進步,NTC/組件的應用領域不斷拓展。市場需求與產品應用範圍廣泛,涵蓋電子、資訊、通訊、家電、汽車、醫療儀器及關產業。
