PPTC 聚合物正溫度係數,是如何工作的呢?

聚合物PTC器件由一個聚合物矩陣組成,它充滿了碳黑微粒而具有傳導性。由於它具有傳導性,它將通過一定量的電流。如果過多的電流流過該器件,由於I²R的加熱,該器件就會發熱;因為器件發熱,它就會膨脹;其膨脹將使碳微粒分散開,使器件的阻抗增加。這將使器件更快地發熱並膨脹得更大,進一步增加了阻抗。這種阻抗的增加足以顯著減少電路中的電流。少量的電流仍然可以流過該器件,且足以保持器件的溫度,並使之保持在高阻抗水平。當電源和故障解除後,PPTC器件就會冷卻。設備冷卻時,它將收縮到其原來的形狀,並返回低阻抗水平,這時它可保持器件設定的電流。

 

PPTC 器件和保險絲之間最明顯的區別是可復位能力特性,雖然兩種產品都可以提供過流保護,而PPTC器件可以提供多次這種保護,而保險絲在提供其保護之後,為保證電路發揮作用必須進行更換。在技術上講,PPTC 可復位器件是一種以傳導性聚合物為基礎的熱敏電阻。熱敏電阻的特徵是具有負溫度係數能力(NTC),器件的阻抗可以隨溫度下降而減小;它也具有正溫度係數能力(PTC),器件的阻抗可以隨溫度增加而加大。PPTC可復位器件是一種聚合物正溫度係數熱敏電阻。

 

PPTC器件與雙層金屬電路斷路器相比,它們的主要區別在於閉鎖可復位能力。兩種器件都是可復位的,但是許多雙層金屬電路斷路器甚至會在故障仍然存在時自行復位,這可能在復位時導致巨大的EMI尖峰,在潛在故障的條件下進行重新連接可能損壞設備,而且是不安全的。PPTC 器件會在高阻抗狀態中閉鎖,直到故障排除和電源斷開。PPTC器件在初始阻抗、對故障事件的反應時間和尺寸方面不同於陶瓷PTC器件。兩種產品都是可復位器件,但是與同樣保持電流的陶瓷PTC器件相比,由於PPTC器件更小且有更低的阻抗,PPTC 器件比CPTC的典型反應(切斷)快得多。
